AD Ports Group in Talks with Nigeria to Partner on Ports, Logistics & Maritime Digital Infrastructure

AD Ports Group has strengthened its engagement with Nigeria following a high-level meeting between its Managing Director and Group CEO, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, and His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The discussions focused on advancing strategic cooperation in trade, maritime, shipping, and logistics, highlighting Nigeria’s growing importance in Africa’s maritime landscape.

Building on this engagement, AD Ports Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to explore collaboration across ports, logistics, maritime services, and digital trade infrastructure. The MoU was signed by H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, establishing a framework to assess investment and development opportunities within Nigeria’s ports, logistics services, economic and free zones, and digital trade platforms.

The agreement reflects Nigeria’s position as Africa’s largest economy and a key maritime and trade hub, supported by an extensive coastline, major port assets, and expanding regional and international trade flows. Both sides emphasized the potential to enhance port efficiency, logistics connectivity, maritime services, and digital infrastructure, while supporting sustainable economic growth and job creation.

The MoU aligns with the recently signed UAE–Nigeria Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which aims to reduce tariffs, remove trade barriers, and boost bilateral investment. With UAE–Nigeria non-oil trade reaching US$4.3 billion in 2024 and Nigeria’s GDP growth projected to accelerate in 2026, the partnership signals a new chapter of deeper trade, investment, and long-term cooperation between the two nations.
